Catch Ratio: The Key to Dogfrisbee Success

Execution/Catch ratio – behind these words lies the highest priority in Dogfrisbee. For me personally, it represents the essence of fun and dog’s confidence. It’s the key to success and often that one missing element.
Have you ever wondered how many tasks your dog has to perform to catch a frisbee? Is it possible to master this behaviour to near perfection? – These were key questions for me, whether I was training with my adult dog Floyd or introducing my younger dog to the sport. High catch ratio is a skill that has allowed us to boast titles such as Polish, Czech, and European champions. It’s a training point I return to at every stage, constantly asking myself the above (and related) questions.

I could talk about catchability for days. There isn’t a single seminar where I could cover all the exercises, ideas, and scenarios. That’s why, some time ago, the idea of an online course was born.

Who is this course for?
For people with motivated dogs that play with toys, especially those that are already interested in or catching frisbees, or even competing, but want to improve their performance! This will definitely NOT be a beginner’s course on introducing toys from scratch.

What will it include?
-Theoretical sections addressing questions such as:
What is catchability, and what can it give us and our dog?
-Disc selection – what can we do, and how to train to make things easier for our dog?
-Discussion of the most common catchability issues and how to solve them.
-Throwing exercises – what you need to know to have the tools to test your dog’s progress.
-Practical section – recordings of exercises related to catching, chasing, communication, observing the disc, and many others.
-Case study – I invited two dogs with completely opposite catching issues to collaborate. Using their examples, we will discuss behaviour, observation and the selection of appropriate exercises!

What will you need to participate?
Discs for your dog (I recommend Fastback Flex to start), tug toys/balls, treats, cones or ground stakes, obstacle to jump over. And, of course, time and space for training!
