Level up your Floaters!

A complete guide to controlled, catchable, and creative floaters in dogfrisbee

Floaters are one of the most important skills in dogfrisbee.

A good floater is about spin, control, timing, and intention. When done correctly, a floater creates a stable, readable flight that supports your dog’s confidence, safety, and catch ratio – whether you’re training foundations or performing advanced freestyle elements.

Level up your Floaters is a structured, three-level online course designed to take you from stable basics to advanced, high-spin floaters, step by step.

What you will learn

  • how floaters actually work
  • how to generate clean rotation using fingers, wrist, forearm, and elbow
  • how to control height, position, and stability of the disc
  • how to adapt floaters to different dogs, setups, and conditions

Each lesson focuses on precision, awareness, and progression, so you can develop confidence in your throws.

Course structure – 3 levels of progression

Level 1 – Floater Foundations

We start with the basics:

  • stable floaters from the backhand grip
  • finger positioning and wrist mechanics
  • controlling height, direction, and release timing
  • floaters at different body positions and sides
  • upside-down floaters and multi-disc foundations

This level builds the base for safe, catchable throws and is suitable for beginners as well as experienced handlers who want to polish their fundamentals.

Level 2 – Grip Variations & Butterflies

In Level 2, we expand your toolbox:

  • forehand and overhand floaters
  • understanding anti-clockwise spin
  • upside-down and two-disc variations
  • butterfly techniques with multiple entries and exits

This level focuses on creativity, flow, and coordination.

Level 3 – Strong Spin & Advanced Floaters

The final level is all about powerful, controlled rotation and advanced releases:

  • building strong spin from fingers to elbow
  • multi-disc floaters (two and three discs)
  • finger flip floaters and advanced transitions

Level 3 challenges your coordination and timing while giving you the tools to create high-level, visually impressive floaters.
